82 Years Young.

When the call came in, Les wasn't alone — his excited family was right there with him. At 82 years old, he became the winner of a 1,000-horsepower drag and drive Malibu, and Steve Morris Engines made sure his first experience with it was a good one.

Steve Morris Engines invited Les out to a track day to help him get comfortable behind the wheel. Les strapped in, made several passes, and went home with one of the most capable street cars in the country.

A Change of Heart

Months after taking the car home, Les reached out to Steve Morris Engines with an unexpected request.

"A Street Rod to cruise in (and maybe occasionally race)"

— Les, describing what he actually wanted, rather than "a Race Car to occasionally cruise in"

Although genuinely thrilled to have won, Les realized the Sugar Momma — as spectacular as it is — was built for a different kind of driver. He asked Steve Morris Engines if they would repurchase the vehicle. They agreed.

It's the kind of outcome that doesn't happen often, but it says everything about how Steve Morris Engines runs their operation — putting people first, even when it means taking the car back.

Where She Is Now

Keeping It
in the Family.

The Sugar Momma found its forever home with Katelyn — Steve Morris's daughter. Far from sitting idle, the car has been put to exactly the use it was built for.

Katelyn has completed multiple drag and drive events with the Malibu, running alongside Steve's wife. For Steve, having his entire family out on the road racing together is exactly the kind of outcome that makes a build like this worth doing.
