This STEVE MORRIS ENGINES 376-416CID LSX short-block is a great way for you to start your engine build with the right parts! Unlike competitors, we include the correct combination of parts (not hide them as "extras" that you have to select) for best results. Here is a little bit about what you will be getting.
Our LSX short-blocks start with a brand-new GMPP LSX block, machined and balanced in-house to our specifications. We align-hone and final hone with our torque-plate to ensure proper ring seal and optimal performance. The GMPP LSx block will offer maximum clamping force of the cylinder heads to the block when combined with any of the aftermarket 6-bolt cylinder heads, although you can run a 4-bolt head if the newer heads just don't fit your budget.
Our short-blocks feature DIAMOND RACING or CP BULLET-series forged 4.070" piston package. These pistons are designed to accommodate LS1, LS2, LS6, L92, LS3, LS7, and most aftermarket cylinder heads and valve configuration. The piston sets listed are 2618 forgings and feature lowered ring lands to accommodate boosted applications. All pistons will use a 1.2mm/1.2mm/3.0mm ring pack with a gas-nitrited steel top ring and Napier second ring.
We use a quality 4340-forged H-beam design connecting rod with ARP2000 connecting rod bolts. These are the same ones we have used in the LS-FREE engine build, as well as numerous other forced induction builds.
For a crankshaft, we use a forged 4340 crankshaft (you can choose from MOLNAR, EAGLE, SCAT, or MANLEY) that we will balance in-house to our specifications. In our experience, they are capable pieces that can withstand up to approximately 1,400hp.

We offer multiple brands of connecting rods and crankshafts to suit any type of application. Every engine will come standard with the necessary oil and coolant plugs already installed in the block.
